Why bad things happen to good people?

"Why me?"
"I don't deserve this!"
"I am better than others. I should be spared of this.."
"If there is a good God, why bad things happen to good people?"

These are few of the common questions that come to mind when people suffer hardships, difficulties and tragedies.

But are these questions valid?

The Scripture says that God is good. His goodness is impartial. He is the source of life and gives equal opportunities to all. His love is benevolent. In fact He lets the sun shines both the good and evil. (Matt 5:45)

But the question is, is there anyone who deserves the love of God? The Scripture teaches that all men have sinned and no one is righteous. No one understands, no seeks God (Romans 3:1,2). And because God is just all deserves punishment not favor. Therefore, common sense dictates that man only gets what he deserves when he experiences suffering.

So the question should be, why good things happen to bad people. That is the right question.
